About HIVA Haiwa

Haier's HIVA Haiwa is a domestic humanoid robot unveiled at the Appliance & Electronics World Expo (AWE) 2025, positioned as a 'housework terminator' for everyday household assistance. Standing 165 cm tall and weighing 70 kg, this wheeled humanoid features 44 degrees of freedom providing human-like reach and dexterity, with the ability to access objects up to 2 meters high.

Created by Haier together with Star Era Technology Co. (and reportedly based on RobotEra's Q5 wheeled humanoid platform), HIVA Haiwa combines highly articulated arms and hands with machine vision and tactile sensors for object recognition, environment perception, and safe manipulation. The robot can sweep, mop, pick up rubbish in hard-to-reach areas, remove laundry from washing machines, iron and fold clothes, and perform basic cooking tasks including heating and mixing ingredients.

The robot combines remote teleoperation for learning with AI-driven routines, engineered to integrate with the Haier Smart Home cloud for deep appliance connectivity. Currently, its actions are controlled remotely by engineers. A necessary phase for training its artificial intelligence toward future autonomous operation without human intervention.

HIVA Haiwa represents Haier's strategy to leverage its massive appliance ecosystem and smart home expertise for robotics. As one of the world's largest home appliance manufacturers, Haier's entry into humanoid robotics signals the convergence of consumer electronics and robotics, following similar moves by Midea and LG in pursuing home robot development.
