The NAVAI-I3 from the Zhejiang Humanoid Robot Innovation Center represents China's most advanced government-backed humanoid platform, unveiled in late 2024 with specifications that rival leading commercial offerings. The robot features an impressive 82 degrees of freedom and 2,250 TOPS of AI processing power, among the highest in the industry.
The Zhejiang Humanoid Robot Innovation Center was jointly established by the Ningbo Municipal Government and Zhejiang University in December 2023, with strategic backing from industrial automation giant SUPCON. The center functions as a hub for technical research, product development, talent nurturing, and industrial growth, integrating artificial intelligence with robotics.
The NAVAI series has evolved rapidly: Navigator 1 (March 2024) stood 150 cm tall at 50 kg with breakthrough capabilities in table wiping, serving tea, and lifting heavy objects. Navigator 2 (August 2024) grew to 165 cm and 60 kg with 41 degrees of freedom, 275 TOPS AI compute, and has entered training at Lenovo and Geely factories. The NAVAI-I3 represents the latest generation with dramatically enhanced dexterity and cognitive capabilities.
The human-like frame is designed for interaction, dexterity, and task execution in dynamic environments. As part of China's national push toward humanoid robotics leadership, the NAVAI series demonstrates how government-backed regional innovation centers can rapidly advance technology through coordinated investment, academic partnerships, and industrial collaboration.
