About Phantom MK1

The Phantom MK1 by Foundation is a general-purpose humanoid robot designed for applications ranging from industrial automation to defense. Standing 175 cm tall and weighing 80 kg, it is human-sized to seamlessly integrate into existing human infrastructure.

A key technological differentiator is its use of proprietary cycloidal actuators. These electric drives offer high torque density and impact resistance comparable to hydraulic systems but with the efficiency and cleanliness of electric motors. They are back-drivable, enhancing safety during interactions with humans or the environment.

Foundation positions the Phantom MK1 for high-throughput production work, emphasizing reliability and speed (up to 1.7 m/s). The robot employs a 'camera-first' perception strategy and uses Large Language Models (LLMs) to translate high-level commands into motion primitives, allowing for adaptable behavior in unstructured environments.
