About Xiaomi CyberOne

Xiaomi's CyberOne represents the Chinese technology giant's ambitious entry into humanoid robotics, unveiled in August 2022. Standing 177 cm tall and weighing 52 kg, CyberOne demonstrates Xiaomi's ability to leverage its consumer electronics expertise in an entirely new domain.

The robot's most distinctive feature is its emotion recognition capability. Using Xiaomi's self-developed MiAI vocal emotion identification engine, CyberOne can recognize 45 classifications of human emotion and 85 types of environmental sounds. This enables the robot to detect happiness and even comfort users in times of sadness. A focus on emotional intelligence that sets it apart from purely task-oriented humanoids.

CyberOne's 21 degrees of freedom enable walking speeds up to 3.6 km/h and running at 7.2 km/h, with a response time of just 0.5 milliseconds. Despite weighing only 500 grams, the upper limb joint motor delivers up to 30 Nm of torque, while the hip joint can produce instantaneous peak torque of 300 Nm. The robot can hold up to 1.5 kg with a single hand.

The vision system combines Xiaomi's Mi-Sense depth vision module with Intel RealSense D455 RGB-D camera, enabling 3D spatial perception and recognition of individuals, gestures, and expressions. A curved OLED display on the robot's face shows real-time interactive information. While CyberOne remains primarily a technology demonstration rather than a commercial product, it showcases Xiaomi's potential to apply its scale and manufacturing expertise to robotics.
