NEURA Robotics' 4NE-1 stands as Europe's leading humanoid robot, showcased in July 2024 by the German company founded in 2019 by David Reger. Backed by €120 million in Series B funding secured in January 2025, NEURA pursues cognitive humanoid robotics for both industrial and domestic environments.
Standing 180 cm tall and weighing 80 kg, the 4NE-1 carries 15 kg payloads while moving at 3 km/h. The robot features force-torque sensors with 0.1 N sensitivity and ±0.01 mm repeatability. This precision that enables sophisticated manipulation tasks. The comprehensive sensor suite includes 360° 3D vision, depth cameras, LiDAR, artificial skin, and NEURA's patent-pending Touchless Safe Human Detection that senses people even through obstructing clothing.
The 4NE-1's cognitive system employs a layered AI architecture enabling rapid response to stimuli, complex problem-solving through cloud-based AI, and access to external information. The robot learns autonomously through environmental interaction, adapting behavior over time. Exchangeable forearms allow task-specific customization, with dedicated models for wheeled industrial floors or 7th-axis extended reach configurations.
NEURA joined NVIDIA's Humanoid Robot Developer Program in 2024, utilizing Isaac GR00T to accelerate development. The combination of German engineering precision, substantial funding, and NVIDIA partnership positions 4NE-1 as a serious competitor in the global humanoid market, representing Europe's answer to American and Chinese platforms.
