Noetix Robotics' N2 from Beijing demonstrates near-perfect continuous backflips. A capability previously achieved only by Boston Dynamics' Atlas. Standing 118 cm tall and weighing 30 kg, this compact humanoid packs explosive athletic performance that belies its size.
The N2 features 18 degrees of freedom with peak joint torque of 150 Nm, enabling complex athletic movements including backflips, somersaults, running at 3.5 m/s (12.6 km/h), jumping, and dancing. Heavy limb joints are placed closer to the crotch for easier aerial rotation. A deliberate design choice for dynamic acrobatics. Deep reinforcement learning drives anthropomorphic walking while maintaining balance during high-energy maneuvers.
Dual depth cameras provide 3D visual perception powered by NVIDIA Jetson Orin GPU with 8GB video memory delivering 40-67 TOPS of edge AI compute. A 48V quick-swap lithium battery provides up to 2 hours runtime. The open Linux control stack supports Python, C++, and ROS for research development, with LLM integration enabling speech and visual interaction.
Established in September 2023, Noetix Robotics targets mass production at approximately 39,000 yuan ($5,500), among the most affordable capable humanoids available. Available in 'Flowing Purple' or 'Moonlight White' aesthetics, the N2 positions as an accessible platform for developers, educators, and researchers exploring dynamic locomotion and embodied AI algorithms.
