About Adam SP

Adam SP is PNDbotics' flagship humanoid robot, standing 1.67 meters tall with 41 degrees of freedom. Unlike the entry-level Adam Lite which uses rubber ball grippers, Adam SP features fully dexterous 5-finger hands with 7 DOF each, enabling complex manipulation tasks.

The robot is powered by PND Smart Actuator (PSA) quasi-direct-drive modules capable of delivering 360 N·m peak torque without bulky gearboxes. This design enables soft, human-safe contact while maintaining the power needed for industrial applications. The integrated transmission features a variable-ratio design for optimal performance across different motion profiles.

Adam SP employs a sophisticated control system combining imitation learning with deep reinforcement learning. The system is trained extensively in simulation before being transferred to physical hardware, enabling fluid and natural movement patterns. Walking speed reaches 6 km/h (1.67 m/s) with a 5 kg payload capacity and 2-hour battery runtime.

Showcased at WAIC 2025 (World Artificial Intelligence Conference) in Shanghai, Adam SP demonstrated human-like motion that impressed audiences. The platform targets industrial automation and service robotics applications where dexterous manipulation and natural movement are essential. An open-source SDK with NVIDIA compatibility supports custom development and research applications.
