World's fastest full-size humanoid robot, capable of running at 12.9 km/h. Features advanced locomotion with 55 degrees of freedom.
Robotera's Star1 claimed global attention in October 2024 when it achieved a world record running speed of nearly 13 km/h (8 mph) during a 34-minute run across China's Gobi Desert. The demonstration showcased bipedal locomotion capability unmatched by any other humanoid platform at the time.
Standing 171 cm tall and weighing 65 kg, Star1 features 55 degrees of freedom distributed throughout its body. The legs provide 12 DOF for superior movement capability, complemented by a 3-DOF waist for stability and flexibility. Each 7-DOF arm pairs with the XHAND1 five-fingered hand featuring 12 active DOF with full direct drive.
Joint capabilities reach 400 N·m torque and 25 rad/s peak rotational speed, enabling the dynamic movements needed for high-speed running. The 275 TOPS AI hardware powers Robotera's proprietary ERA-42 end-to-end AI model for stable walking, running, and jumping across challenging terrain. The sneaker-wearing Star1 navigated grassland and gravel while maintaining sustained high-speed locomotion.
Founded in August 2023 and incubated by Tsinghua University's Institute for Interdisciplinary Information Sciences, Robotera raised nearly 300 million yuan in pre-Series A funding. Target applications span automotive assembly and 3C manufacturing, handling precision assembly, quality checks, packaging, and material transport. The Gobi Desert run proved Star1's capabilities extend far beyond controlled laboratory conditions.
