About Motion 1

Motion 1 is VinMotion first humanoid robot prototype, representing Vietnam first major effort in humanoid robotics since the TOPIO series by TOSY Robotics in the late 2000s. The robot is designed to fit into existing workflows, starting with light-duty industrial tasks.

VinMotion, which launched in January 2025 as part of the Vingroup ecosystem backed by billionaire Pham Nhat Vuong, has built and tested five prototype versions of Motion 1. The robots were designed entirely in-house, integrating proprietary hardware, distance sensors, and algorithms for balance and synchronization with other models.

Motion 1 demonstrates walking, waving, and object recognition capabilities. It can interact using basic gestures and voice commands, with semi-autonomous controls featuring a human-in-the-loop system. The robot uses adaptive learning to improve over time based on human feedback and task repetition.

Designed to navigate complex environments with fluid motion and intelligent response systems, Motion 1 handles tasks including warehouse transportation, visual inspection, and basic assembly support. VinMotion demonstrated synchronized dancing capabilities, showcasing the coordination algorithms that allow multiple units to work together.

The company plans to develop humanoid robots for factories, warehouses, care services, and operations in hazardous areas. Initial deployments focus on transporting parts and performing repetitive tasks at VinFast facilities.

Motion 1 paved the way for the second-generation Motion 2, which features enhanced specifications including 1.78m height, 75kg weight, and 31 smart motors.
