About MagicBot Z1

MagicBot Z1 from Beijing-based MagicLab (Magic Atom Robot Technology) captured global attention in July 2025 by demonstrating martial arts moves, executing spin kicks and dodging arrows with side flips that showcase unprecedented humanoid agility. Standing 140 cm tall and weighing 40 kg, the Z1 is designed as a compact yet highly dynamic platform.

The Z1 features MagicLab's self-developed high-performance joint modules with 24 foundational degrees of freedom expandable up to 49 DOF. Maximum joint torque exceeds 130 N·m enabling high-burst movements including 'large disturbance recovery' and 'continuous stand-up from falls.' Joint range reaches up to 320 degrees. Walking speeds reach 2.5 m/s with the ability to climb obstacles up to 15 cm.

The comprehensive sensor array includes 3D LiDAR, depth cameras, and binocular fisheye vision. When fitted with the 11-DOF MagicHand S01, each five-fingered hand can grasp delicate parts or lift up to 5 kg. Construction uses high-strength aluminum alloy and engineering plastics for durability while maintaining agility.

Consumer pricing starts around $40,000 with enterprise configurations reaching six figures. MagicLab promotes MagicNet, a multi-robot collaboration layer enabling shared maps, task scheduling, and MES integration for factory and campus deployments. The Z1's full-size sibling, MagicBot G1 (174 cm, 67.5 kg, ~42 DOF, 20 kg payload, ~$119,800), targets industrial assistance and logistics with 4-5 hours runtime and 100 TOPS compute.
