PUDU D9 marks Pudu Robotics' entry into full-sized bipedal humanoids, unveiled in December 2024 as the third product from the company's X-Lab following the semi-humanoid D7 and DH11 dexterous hand. The Shenzhen-based company, known for its delivery robots deployed in restaurants worldwide, now targets warehouse and commercial applications with a platform designed for "commercially viable embodied intelligence."
Standing 170 cm tall and weighing 65 kg, the PUDU D9 features 42 degrees of freedom with maximum joint torque of 352 Nm. Two 7-DOF robotic arms deliver over 20 kg payload capacity, paired with the PUDU DH11 dexterous hand for delicate manipulation tasks. Advanced algorithms enable energy-efficient, lightweight gait control minimizing noise during operation.
The D9 walks at speeds up to 2 m/s on flat surfaces, comparable to adult walking pace, while navigating stairs, slopes, and challenging urban terrain through its bipedal structure. Visual semantic navigation with high-accuracy sensors creates real-time 3D semantic maps for accurate self-positioning and autonomous route planning.
Multimodal perception integrates visual, tactile, force, and auditory sensors processed through advanced AI models for human-level natural interactions. Proprietary reinforcement learning algorithms enable rapid learning from datasets and end-to-end task planning. Target applications include warehouse unloading, cleaning, hospitality, logistics, and healthcare, building on Pudu's extensive experience deploying service robots at scale. The D9 represents Pudu's bet that its operational expertise and manufacturing capability can accelerate humanoid commercialization.
